About me

Hi, I’m Oli Groom and I have DMD (duchenne muscular dystrophy). I am traveling via cruise ship around the world starting from and returning to, Auckland, NZ. I will be traveling with my close friend and nurse Nicole.

DMD means my muscles do not regenerate and slowly weaken over time. I have been using a wheelchair from 2002 or 23-years so far. At the time I was diagnosed in 1997 my life expectancy was short and drs said I would be lucky to see 18. But no one knows when times up because i made it to my 33rd birthday this year.
